Contractors wishing to be accredited should complete an Initial On Line Application Form and then the Assessor will verify your capabilities with scoring on the ACCREDITATION ASSESSMENT MATRIX form, together with inspection of the relevant supporting documentation.

The contractor’s premises report(s) will supplement the information on the questionnaire and will enable the Scheme Assessor to complete the application.

The applicant will be advised what level of accreditation has been awarded on the basis of the completed forms, the contractor’s premises report(s), and the assessment matrix.

An appeal procedure will enable applicants to contest their assessment. Appeals should be sent to the Scheme Assessor for consideration.

Re-accreditation will be carried out at three-year intervals according to the above procedures, although interim assessments may be carried out as a result of:

  • Request for upgrade by Accredited Company
  • Results of spill site assessment
  • Request of the Regulator
  • Result of a complaint investigation
  • Failure by the Contractor to have spills or spill exercises inspected by the due date

Application for accreditation of additional bases may be made at any time.  Any sub-base successfully accredited will be due for re-accreditation on the same date as that for the main base but fees charged will be on a pro-rata basis.
